About Richard Lee Bailey III “Trey”

This blog is dedicated to my son, Richard Lee Bailey, III but he’s always been called Trey. My daughter, Emma, when she was little, would call him, Ta-RAAAAAAY!  🙂

2026 Update

I started both of my kids blogs shortly after they were born, both of them so around 2005 for Emma’s & 2007 for Trey’s. The point was to have a place to share pictures of them growing up because they had some grandparents who lived far away. Beverly, Richard’s mom lived in Chicago and his Dad, Dick, liveed in Florida. While my parents were closer, these blogs/websites were started really before Facebook and other social media platforms took off so they were the only way of communicating and sharing pictures in one central place for family that couldn’t be close to us.

As their mom, I made it my mission over the years to keep these websites maintained because as I learned website design and graphic design while building them. I knew they would have value one day, not for me, but for them. It could be something I could hand off to them one day.

It wasn’t easy. Honestly I fumbled around tinkering here and there. I made mistakes while learning but my thought was that one day I could share this with them when they were old enough could appreciate what I had done. I even wrote scheduled messages for when they hit milestones like 18, 21, and other important dates that will automatically post when the date hits so I don’t forget and they have something from me to look forward to.

My thought was if I’m no longer there, they’ll have a legacy of stuff from me to enjoy. I’ve always been the historian of the families I’ve been a part of so I guess I value that kind of thing.

As Facebook and social media grew, these websites became a constant – a place where all their years of growth could live and be documented.

Now that my son is 18, I hope that on days that feel heavy or sad or if he just can’t remember something, he’ll come back here from time and enjoy the mom ents of yesterday that we enjoyed together.

I promised back in 2007 that I would…

I update it with photos, pictures and stories of him often. I hope to be able to view this for years to come. 🙂

I hope I have lived up to that promise.
